BEHIND THE STUDIO, BEHIND THE NAME

THE NAME

"Mali Ljuti" is Serbian for "just a little angry." But the name did not start with anger. It started with a flower. Ljutić, a small, delicate bloom whose name carries a quiet edge. "Ljuti" means angry in Serbian, and the "ić" at the end makes it little. A little angry flower. It felt right. Small, a little fierce, and not what you expect. So the studio became Mali Ljuti, and the logo followed: a small flower with a frown. Not anger. Just a small, stubborn love for doing things right.

THE PERSON

My name is Nevena. I am a web designer based in Belgrade with a background that surprises people. I studied fashion and textile design, and somewhere between pattern making, painting and an obsession with all things creative, I found my way to the screen. It made more sense than it sounds. Fashion taught me to think about the whole. How something is constructed, how it moves, how it feels to experience it. Web design is the same discipline, just on a different canvas. I have been designing websites for seven plus years, working across agencies and with clients from almost every industry. What drives me is not just making something look good. It is making it feel considered. A layout that guides you without you noticing. A design that tells you everything before you have read a single word. That is the part I never get tired of.

Web Design

Every website I design starts with a question: what does this need to do, and how do we make it feel effortless? My job is to figure out what that is and make sure every design decision serves it. I start by understanding the brief, the client, the audience and what the digital product needs to achieve, then I build from there. Sitemap, full visual design, developer handoff and visual QA, the whole process from first idea to live product. Attention spans are short. Websites and platforms need to work harder than ever to hold someone's attention and stand out in a crowded market. That is what I am always designing for.

VISUAL IDENTITY

A brand is only as strong as the thinking behind it. Before anything gets designed, I need to understand what the brand stands for, who it is talking to and where it fits in its industry.A brand is not just a logo. It is a system, a feeling, a first impression that needs to hold up everywhere it shows up, on screen, in print, in motion. From thereI start building. Logo, colour palette, typography, guidelines and templates, everything it needs to show up consistently and be remembered. A good logo should stop someone in their tracks. If the brand already exists, the question becomes how to take it further. How to make it more dynamic, more relevant and more itself than it was before. Either way the goal is the same: a brand that holds together and stands out.

Graphic Design

Good graphic design always starts with why. What are we trying to say, who are we saying it to and what do we want them to do next. Once that is clear, everything else follows. Hierarchy, breathing room, knowing when to add and when to pull back. I design social media content, ads, presentations, decks, business cards and print and digital assets. I work within existing brand systems or build the creative direction from scratch. The medium changes but the thinking is always the same. It has to look good, it has to work and it has to say exactly what it needs to say without saying too much.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project management is not just about keeping things organised. It is about knowing the project by heart, understanding every moving part and making sure everyone involved has exactly what they need to do their best work. I own the brief, coordinate the team, track the timeline and make sure the client always knows where things stand. I have led design teams, run client calls and presented final work. The communication has to be clear, the timelines have to be respected and you always have to be three steps ahead. Because a project that runs well produces better work. That is not a coincidence.
